Coding Academy: Scratch
MIT's free educational programming language SCRATCH is the world's most popular tool of it's kind. With over six million registered users, this code-learning tool is geared to girls/boys ages 8-16, and is designed to be fun, educational, and easy to learn. It has the tools for creating interactive stories, games, art, simulations, and more. Scratch even has its own paint editor and sound editor built-in.
When used with a low-cost Raspberry PI, a credit-card sized mini computer that plugs into a monitor and uses a standard keyboard and mouse, Scratch runs like a desktop application on a computer. RasPIs offer internet browsing, hi-def video, word processing, spreadsheets and many popular games such as Minecraft.
